Bands in Parks: Music on the Green

Sunday 2 August


    

Second Wind Big Band will entertain with a program of toe-tapping favourites for an afternoon on the green. The bar will be trading and there will be picnic baskets and cheeseboards for purchase. Bring your family and friends and sit back and relax to the beat of big band favourites.

Bands in Parks: Dancing Through the Baroque

Sunday 3 August


Experience the elegance of Baroque music and dance in this vibrant performance themed around historical dance. The Brisbane Baroque Players will perform on period instruments in authentic style, joined by Dance Kaleidoscope demonstrating English Country Dancing. Enjoy the sounds of harpsichord, baroque strings, and baroque wind instruments in a courtly celebration.

Bands in Parks: A Grand Affair

It’s always a grand affair when the spectacular Father Henry Willis Organ, played by Phillip Gearing,  is paired with the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Brass Band, under the baton of Howard Taylor.  This collaboration has become somewhat of a tradition over the past few years, with concerts celebrating everything from movie themes to the Best of British.  This grand concert will be another affair to remember.

South Brisbane Federal Band takes you on a whirlwind trip around the world in 60 minutes featuring African Folk Song, The Irish Washerwoman, some light Italian opera favourites and Russian dances that will get your feet tapping. Join them for an afternoon in the park at Kedron

Bands in Parks: Moorooka Family Fun Day

Come along to this great day out for the whole family with lots of free activities including music, face painting, rides, animal farm, fauna show and more.  Food and drinks will be available.  BYO chairs and blankets and enjoy music by the Brisbane Regional Jazz Ensemble BRJE.

Brisbane Symphonic Band presents a dynamic and exciting concert featuring three Brisbane based composers: Burrell, Hultgren and Adele Mitchell, plus other established Aussie artists in the bushland setting at Chermside. Bring the family for an afternoon concert celebrating our local talent.

Community day by the bay at Manly. Come down to the boat harbour, browse the markets at Manly Harbour village and enjoy live music by the sea with local school bands and Musical Chairs Jazz Band.

Bands in Parks: Father's Day at City Hall

Sunday 7 September 

The Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra takes to the stage with a blockbuster program of light classics and movie themes.  The concert is free but if you would like to sit and sip with a glass of wine and cheese plate, or enjoy afternoon tea and cake, then it’s just $10 per person. Join the Rivercity Steel Band for an afternoon concert on the green. The bar will be trading and there will be picnic baskets and cheeseboards for purchase so round up your family and friends to finish off your weekend with a concert that will guarantee a smile on your face.

Bands in Parks: Twilight Jazz by the River

Friday 12 September

Before the city warms up to Friday evening, take some time to enjoy big band jazz after work at the Maritime Museum with music by Mango Jam Big Band. Please note – entry is alongside the Maritime Museum Ferry terminal, via Dock Street. The main Museum entry is closed on Friday Nights. There is no BYO food or drinks at this venue. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Come down to the square, browse the twilight markets and enjoy the sounds of bagpipes with the Brisbane Pipe Band.

As the sun goes down, local parks are transformed into outdoor cinemas

with food stalls, fun activities and live music from Swingalicious Big Band. Pack a blanket, get together with family and friends, and make the most of our beautiful climate and greenspaces.  Movie starts at 6pm

Bands in Parks: Classics Across the Ages

Sunday 14 September 

Who doesn’t love a classic? Whether it's a Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson party banger sung loudly on the car ride home, a timeless film singalong from the Wizard of Oz, TV show favourite theme from childhood, or just a favourite classic-rock anthem, the SEQ Jazz Big Band will have it covered.

Bands in Parks: Stage and Screen Spectacular

6-8pm

Saturday 20 September 

Queensland Wind and Brass under the baton of Alisa Jones, showcases the energy, emotion, and excitement of beloved music from film and stage.   The café and bar will be trading, so enjoy the concert with a meal and a glass of wine.  Please note that there is no BYO food or drinks, just bring your own picnic blankets and enjoy music under the stars.

Celebrate the sights, sounds, and spirit of the season as the Brisbane Municipal Concert Band blends the freshness of spring with the flair of swing.

Bands in Parks: Community Train Day

Sunday 28 September   

Connect with the local community at Bracken Ridge with sausage sizzles, live music by Brisbane Citizens Band,  food and plant stalls and rides on a real steam train run by Bracken Ridge Central Lions Club.
